Cabopop is Cape Verdean pop singer Gil Semedo's last album, an 11-track album mixing traditional Cape Verdean Coladeira, Funana and Batuco with other music styles like zouk, pop and RnB.
The CD is currently available in stores and will be presented to the public for the first time in Paris tonight, at the Elysee Montmartre.
The 33-year-old singer will also soon start his Worldwide Cabopop tour, with concerts planned in Portugal and the US for July, in Marseilles, France in September, as well as many others in Cape Verde and Holland.
Cabopop, which is also the name of the foundation Gil and his friends launched for the promotion of the Cape Verdean Music culture in Holland, was recorded in Cape Verde, Paris and Rotterdam.
Gil has development his own musical style over the years, mixing Cape Verdean sounds to pop and RnB, which he calls Caboswing.
Gil first started his career in 1991 with the release of Gil and the Perfect 2, and has sold over 500,000 albums since, making him the most successful young artist in Portuguese speaking countries.
